TRIBUTES to tragic teenage stab victim Odwayne Barnes were starting to pour in today as
police set up a confidential mobile phone number for witnesses.
The 16-year-old died of stab wounds two days after being attacked in Birmingham city centre on
Monday afternoon.
Shannel Powell, who was described as Odwayne's ex-girlfriend, said he was "caring"
and said a part of her "felt incomplete" knowing she would never see him again.
She was one of a number of people who contacted the Birmingham Mail to pay tribute to the teenager
who died in hospital on Wednesday.
In an e-mail, she said: "I just wanted to pay my respect to my ex-boyfriend Odwayne. He was a
big part of my life because he was caring.
"A part of me feels incomplete knowing that I'm never going to be with him again. I
cannot imagine how his family and friends are feeling now.
"I was with him the other day around my area and we were chatting for ages.
"Rest in peace Odwayne, everyone is missing you and you're in a safe place now."
Former schoolfriends named Danielle and Adele e-mailed: "Odwayne will be truly missed by his
family, his friends and people who knew him from around.
"Our hearts go out to Odwayne's family in this time of crisis and we wish that Odwayne
rests in peace."
Another pal Stuart McCarthy added: "Gone but never forgotten. We'll meet again one day.

Twelve-year-old Reece Edwards said he knew Odwayne through his cousin and "looked up to
him."
He added: "He was really clever. We used to go to the city centre sometimes and he looked after
me. I hope he rests in peace."
Odwayne was standing at a bus-stop outside Matthew Boulton College in Jennens Road when he was
fatally stabbed. Four people have been arrested in connection with his murder.
Police have set up a confidential email address and mobile service for people to send in
information over the stabbing.
Acting Chief Insp Paul Ford said: "There were a large number of people in the area at the time
of the stabbing. Students from the nearby college may have been on the road at the time as well.
"It's vital that we gather as much evidence as possible in this murder enquiry and I would
encourage people to tell us what they know in trust and confidence."

Justice
I've just read that guilty verdicts have been delivered to those charged with Odwayne's murder and therefore, I'm pleased that justice has been done. Nothing will bring Odwayne back, but for his family and friends I hope this result brings some relief to the pain and suffering you must have gone through and probably still are following Odwayne's murder. NO-ONE deserves to die in such a way and for what.....!! Odwayne, you handsome young man, rest in peace and continue to watch over those who knew you and love you dearlyx

i hope ur family get some contention from the sentences.it wont cure their pain but might help them to know those responsible didnt walk free.sleep easy son because you are free from the disease within society.god bless i didnt know u personally but i know all that happened that day and i know you did not deserve what u got.god bless ur family they showed great courage and respectibility its ashame there arent more families like that.

Yes cous, justice has been done, not enough but hey thats life Its better than nothing. They have alot to answer to, because when the rapture calls every man has to give an account to God for all their actions. And they and their families will have to live with their conscience for the rest of their lives. Remember we love you and your sister very much.
